DISCUSSION AND ANY
NECESSARY BOARD ACTION ON ADDING MIDDLE SCHOOL GRADE LEVEL(S) TO
PARKVIEW MONTESSORI MAGNET SCHOOL
Dr. Zambito stated that it would be more
appropriate for the Montessori Program to have seventh and eighth
grades together. She stated we are looking at about twenty
students. She also stated that we would need to have an agreement
of the parties. She stated that the NAACP is fine with this as long
as the selection of students does not negatively impact the racial
balance of any middle school. She also stated that Dale Conder,
attorney, is talking with the Justice Department.
Melinda Harris, principal at Parkview
Montessori Magnet School, presented a brief overview of the Middle
School Montessori Program. She asked the board to approve the
program for the 2007-2008 school year.
After discussion, a motion was made to add
seventh and eighth grades for the 2007-2008 school year. This was
unanimously approved.
