Core
Knowledge
- The Core Knowledge
curriculum provides a solid, coherent foundation of
learning, a core of shared knowledge that children
should learn in American Schools.
- There is a coherent content
from grade to grade, designed to encourage academic
progress as children build their knowledge skills from
on year to the next.
- The Core Knowledge Sequence is
the result of research and analysis of reports issued by
state departments of education, successful educational
programs used in a variety of foreign countries, and by
professional organizations.
- The Core Knowledge foundation,
a nonprofit organization dedicated to excellence and
fairness in three independent groups: teachers,
scholars, and scientists.
- Core Knowledge schools are
dedicated to teaching solid academic content and skills
to all children.
- Although the curriculum extends
to all subject areas, students focus especially on U.S.
government, geography, and world history.
