Chris Couch Wins National FFA Award
Former Liberty student Chris Couch was
named a national winner during the National FFA Convention held in Indianapolis,
Indiana October 22-25, 2008. Couch, a 2007 graduate of Liberty Tech High School, was awarded the honor in the area of Fiber
and/or Oil Crop Production - Entrepreneurship/Placement Proficiency.
The proficiency awards recognize
outstanding student achievement in agribusiness gained through establishment of
a new business, working for an existing company or otherwise gaining hands-on
career experience. The Fiber and/or Oil Crop Production -
Entrepreneurship/Placement Award is one of 47 proficiency program areas FFA
members can participate in to develop valuable experience and leadership skills
at the local, state, and national levels.
The National FFA Organization, formerly known as the Future
Farmers of America, is a national youth organization of 507,763 student members
- all preparing for leadership and careers in the science, business and
technology of agriculture - as part of 7,439 local FFA chapters in all 50
states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. The FFA mission is to make a
positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for
premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural
education.
